1 : Change the password for SYS and SYSTEM.
2 : Lock, remove or change passwords for default unused accounts.
3 : Check privileges and limit SYS privilege.
4 : Set REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT init.ora parameter to FALSE
for avoiding remote users OS authentication.
5 : Protect the dictionary from unauthorized users.
such as Set O7_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY to FALSE.
6 : Revoke privileges from PUBLIC where not necessary
Such as for example for the UTL_FILE package.
7 : Verify database file security
8 : Limit the number of OS users on the database host
9 : Remove unnecessary services from the database host (e.g. FTP).
10: On a regular basis, check Metalink for Security alerts and patches.

13. Change passwords often, then monitor and audit. It is worth the extra time and
overhead.

The first way to delete a file on the O/S is to use the HOST command. The HOST
built-in allows to execute an indicated operating system command.

Syntax (see forms on-line help)

PROCEDURE HOST(system_command_string VARCHAR2);
PROCEDURE HOST(system_command_string VARCHAR2,screen_action NUMBER);


On a Windows platform your code would look like :

HOST ( 'del C:\temp\temp1.lis', NO_SCREEN );

On a Unix platform you code would look like :

HOST ( 'rm /tmp/temp1.lis', NO_SCREEN );


As this solution is based on the HOST command it applies to all platforms.

Another way to delete a file form the O/S is to use for Client/Server
D2kWutil: WIN_API_UTILITY.DELETE_FILE
or for Webforms
webUtil: webutil_file.delete_file.

In order to enable a Forms session level SQL_TRACE do the following:   

Place the following line of code in a When-New-Form-Instance Trigger in  

the first form that is run in your application:       

FORMS_DDL('ALTER SESSION SET SQL_TRACE=TRUE');  

A trace file will be generated on the database server in the directory  specified 

by the database parameter user_dump_dest.
